Preserving African Imagination Across Time

Uwevwi Studios is an archival creative studio and cultural hub dedicated to preserving, reimagining, and advancing African imagination. Through our dual approach, we bridge Africa’s rich artistic heritage with contemporary creative practice. The Uwevwi Studios arm pioneers art consultancy, exhibitions, and collector services, while the Uwevwi Foundation drives archival preservation, research, and community engagement. Our work transforms historical narratives into living, dynamic dialogues for today and tomorrow.

Pioneer

Akpevweoghene Nazerin Gbinije

Nazerin Gbinije (Naz) is a curator, storyteller, and creative strategist building thoughtful cultural experiences from Lagos to the world.

She is the Founder and Creative Lead of Uwevwi Studio, a hybrid curatorial platform and experimental space for artists, researchers, and communities to explore new ways of seeing, making, and connecting. Her practice moves between disciplines, drawing from design, history, and everyday life to shape exhibitions and programs that are both intimate and expansive.

Naz’s work is driven by a simple belief: that art can shift how we understand ourselves and each other. Whether through projects like Spectrums and Strings Attached or A New Language of Presence, she curates with intention, crafting moments that invite dialogue, challenge assumptions, and make space for complexity.

She is also a creative entrepreneur and emerging voice in Africa’s evolving cultural landscape. At every stage, from concept to collaboration, Naz brings structure to vision and clarity to expression.

She’s not just curating art. She’s shaping conversations, building connections, and imagining futures; one project, one partnership, one story at a time.
